Notice is served to all heroes and princess, to the adventurous and to Princes Charming- the Middle Ages and children's literature are celebrated with an exhibition, readins, outdoor cinema, and meetings with authors.
An inaccessible caste, a tearful princess, a dragon, a brave knight, and a few adventures, here are the ingredients of a good children's book.
The Middle Ages was always the same? No quite true...Because changing times also have an effect on textbooks, picture books and children's stories. Vengeful patriotism and morality have given way to new values, new ways of seeing history. And today, the debate over gender theory reminds us that children's literature is far from being a subject of consensus.
Three exhibition rooms housing old collections and Library books.
This exhibition offers a thematic journey in three sections, and covers the main viewpoints in literature from the late 19th century to the present. After an idealized depiction of the Middle Ages, there emerged a more realistic and sometimes more violent version of medieval time. But whatever the decade, the Middle Ages has been reinterpreted in the light of societal and political issues of the day.
