EVENTS AT THE FERME D'ANTAN
BREAD & CRAFTS FESTIVAL
For 30 years now, the association of the Farm of Yesteryear has been organising the Bread & Crafts Festival each year on the 1st Sunday of August, in the heart of the village of "Saint Esprit des Bois" near Plédéliac. Visitors are plunged right into the atmosphere of a rural village on a threshing day in 1920.
At the beginning of the afternoon, you will see a parade with folk dancers, as well as craftsmen (and -women) relating the life of a century ago. Blacksmith, sculptor and coppersmith work while the old iron-wheeled tractor takes part in a threshers' competition. Of course, the baker will propose that you taste his bread baked "à l'ancienne" (like in olden times) in a traditional oven. You can also taste fresh cider, in order to bear the heat of August more easily!
Then everyone takes part in a big game to test one's knowledge. At the end of the afternoon, people gather to eat pork hotpot before joining in traditional Breton dancing.
CHESTNUT FESTIVAL
The Chestnut Festival is the final event in the tourist calendar in Arguenon-Hunaudaye. Organised each year on the 3rd Sunday of October, this traditional festival is a tribute to Autumn. As during the Bread & Crafts Festival, the little Village of "Saint Esprit des Bois" comes to life, thanks to music and folk dancing shows.
All autumnal flavours are represented on this particular day: you will be able to taste cider, crêpes, roasted chestnuts, and traditionally-baked bread.
An exhibition of mushrooms and pumkins gives the final touch to the autumnal scenery of the Farm of Yesteryear.
